Indonesia Extends Temporary Entry Restriction for Foreigners to Indonesia

Consideration to the development regarding the rapid transmission rate of the SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-2 variant B117 Virus at a relatively short time, the National Task Force for COVID-19 Handling has issued the Circular Letter Number 8 Year ​2021 and announce that the Government of Indonesia extends its temporary entry restriction for foreigners until further notice with details below:

  1. ​ Foreign nationals are temporarily prohibited to enter Indonesia, except: (a). In accordance with Minister of Law and Human Rights of Indonesia Regulation No.26 Year 2020, (b). In accordance with bilateral agreement on Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA), (c). Due to special discretion and provided with written permission from relevant Indonesian government institution.
  2. Indonesian citizen is exempted from the restriction.
  3. International arrivals required to prove negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test from samples taken up to 3x24 hours prior the time of departure from country of origin.
  4. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the passenger exempted from the restriction shall: (a). Present a negative PCR test result which the sample has been taken in the departure country within 3x24 hours prior to the departure time,  (b). Fill the electronic Health Alert Card (eHAC), (d). Wait for the result of the PCR test at an accommodation appointed by the Indonesian Government.
  5. If the PCR test result is negative, the passenger shall undergo a 5-day quarantine at an accommodation appointed by the Indonesian Government.
  6. On the 5th day of the quarantine, the passenger shall retake a PCR test.
  7. If the second PCR test result is negative, the passenger is allowed to travel in Indonesia.
  8. If the PCR test results in the arrival or the 5th day of the quarantine are positive, the passenger will be referred to a hospital.
  9. The foreign nationals bear all the expenses for their PCR tests and quarantine; and if positive, hospital treatment.
  10. The restriction will take into effect starting from 9 February 2021 until further notice.
